Reduce Your Juice adopts a unique experiential approach—learning by doing—to transform energy-saving behaviors into habits. It makes saving energy not just easy but also rewarding and fun. The ultimate goal is not just one-time bill savings, but long-term behavioral change, making it a sustainable practice.

We created a mobile app featuring three engaging mini-games, each designed to educate users on various energy-saving concepts. From switching off lights to using fans instead of air conditioners and washing with cold water, these games not only educate but also unlock achievements and offer valuable household tips with each play.

Brisbane Sustainability Agency has successfully run Reduce Your Juice eight times, engaging thousands of households across Australia. This program, including a substantial collaboration with the Queensland Government’s Energy Savvy Families program for regional Queensland, has yielded remarkable outcomes:

• Average household savings of $52 on quarterly electricity bills.
• A 12.3% reduction in energy consumption within the first year.
• Over 82% of participants reported improved energy usage monitoring.
• Over 90% of participants highly recommended the program to family and friends.
